The term Limited Edition has one meaning: an edition that is restricted to a specific number of copies.  In printmaking, an edition is a number of prints struck from one plate, usually at the same point in time.
Most modern artists produce only limited editions, normally signed by the artist in pencil, and numbered to show the unique number of that impression and the total edition size.

Open Edition Print
There is no limit to the number of prints in the edition. Prints may be signed by the artist.
